Karissa Trinchera was born prematurely, which resulted in her developing more slowly than typical children. Soon after, doctors discovered she also had Stickler Syndrome, a 1 that causes vision, hearing and joint problems.
"They were kind of 2 on her," her mother said of the doctors. But Karissa and her parents pushed forward. Swimming began as a sensible 3 activity, but gradually Karissa fell in love with the water.
